Subject: Your Congress Just Voted to Give Illegals Amnesty HR 1885
Date: 3/13/02 11:05 PM Mountain Standard Time
From: Int733
Message-id:

On Tuesday, March 12, 2002, in an evening session generally reserved for insignificant legislation such as honoray proclamations and the like, our honorable House of Representatives quietly attached to another bill a provision that grants amnesty to millions of illegal aliens who broke into our country illegally, cutting in front of millions of foreigners who are in the
process of applying to enter our country legally. I submit that any president or elected representative who has voted for this legislation, especially in light of the current threat to our nation, should be thrown out of office at the next election.
Here is a copy of a letter I have sent to my Representative in NJ. I suggest any freedom-loving patriot do the same:

Dear Congressman,

I have been a supporter of yours for a number of years. However,I have to take very strong exception to your apparent support for the bill which would grant amnesty to millions of foreigners who have entered the United States of America in an illegal manner( H. R. 1885.) How can any American in good conscience, much less an elected representative of the American people, vote in favor of this piece of legislation? Our government has already failed
miserably to protect its citizens from our foreign enemies due chiefly to the govenment's dereliction of duty to properly screen aliens entering legally. How egregious is it,then, to grant official sanction to those who have entered our country criminally! Our government knows nothing about these individuls, their motives, their loyalties
or their intentions. It is clear that, with this bill, our representatives and President are not acting in the interest of the American people but rather in the interest of financial entities and of businesses which are only interested in a source of local cheap labor at the expense of national security.

It has become increasingly clear to me and to millions of other Americans that our system of government is failing. It is no longer functioning as it was intended to function. Our representatives are no longer truely representative of the common people but rather of those special interests which have purchased the votes of our elected officials or of the parties which control them.

This is truely a sad state of affairs. I am not optimistic about where this once-great nation is headed. I feel sad not so much for my own sense of loss but more for the impending loss to our chidren and their childen.

Question:
Do you know anything about the situation of the inmigrants that are included in that resolution?
Could it be that a big amount of them are Salvadorians that entered the country with the TPS program signed after the Huracan Mitch distroyed half of their country? Are they mexicans that risk their lives crossing the border to do the type of jobs that you don't want to do and make a decent living in 'the home of the free and the brave' or however the damn quote goes?
I sincerely hope that you have informed yourself before writing to your Congressman. Anyhow, knowing how politics work in this country, if you did not contribute to his/her campaign you'll probably get either nothing or some stupid answer followed three months later by a letter asking you for money for the campaign.

From what I understand, it is not Salvadorians. Most are Mexican immigrants. Regardless of the type of 'jobs' they do, what is available, etc etc. is not the point. How can you honestly say it's OK for them to sneak into a country while there are people who have FOLLOWED THE RULES and have been waiting months, years for an answer??!! I don't believe in rewarding those who don't follow the rules as this directly HURTS those who are! That is pure bullshit.

You are also contradicting what you yourself say all the time -- that the US doesn't act like a 'democracy.' Most people do not want to allow this. (polls, etc.) but I guess the politicians 'know better.' So it's OK for them to go ahead and go against what their voting public want??? I think not.

Barb, I am one of those who followed the rules and are still waiting while the INS sends visas to dead terrorists. Anyhow, this is not the point of this forum but let me tell you that I don't mind that they make legal before me people that have illegally entered the country if it is out of necessity. And, I don't believe in the concept of 'sneak in' 'cuz I don't believe in the concept of nation. Plus, historically, the land that millions of mexicans cross everyday to get here, IT WAS THEIR LAND!!!!!

It 'WAS' their land? What kind of skewed 'logic' is that? It isn't anymore. Again, this is a point that people on this forum refuse to acknowledge: Land is won thru aggression and war -- it's a fact of history and life.
YOU want to become an american citizen?
Why??? I am shocked (I guess not though)! Ha-ha I had to laugh at your comment that I'd only receive a bunch of solicitation for donations!!!!!!! That's true!

I DON'T WANT TO BECOME A US CITIZEN. I HAVE TO get a green card so I can stay for a couple more years (my husband is a US citizen). Plus, I already told you that I don't believe in the concept of nation. I don't hate the US, is not that simple, I just hate empires, the Roman, the Greek, the Spanish, the British, you name it, from slavery to genocide, empires (their citizens) have fucked up the history of human kind. In our life times, the empire that is fucking up OUR HISTORY is the US, that is what I have against it. The rest, green card, nationality or residency are no more than buraucratic formalities.
Regarding the donations, that is what happened to my husband once he decided to ask for help to his congressman in order to allow me to leave the country, yes, leave the country to visit my family in Europe. The land of the free home of the brave does not allow immigrants who are waiting for their green cards (a process that could take up to 5 years) to leave the US and reenter unless you file an Advanced Parole. That implies money, and of course lawyers. One more beauty of this country!
