UK Saudi Envoy-Israel /WRD/
Israeli leaders are the terrorists, says Saudi envoy
London, April 26, IRNA -- Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the UK, Ghazi
Algosaibi, has hit back at criticism of his tribute to Palestinian
suicide bombers, by saying that it is Israeli leaders who are the
real terrorists.
'Ariel Sharon is guilty of genocide. He was found to have
'personal responsibility' by the Kahan Commission for the murder of
2,000 innocent Palestinians in Shabra and Shatila,' Algosaibi said in
a letter to the Board of Deputies of British Jews.
'He is responsible for the murder of a similar number of
Palestinian civilians in occupied Palestinian lands. His destruction
of Jenin would make Attila the Hun proud,' he said.
The Saudi Ambassador was responding to protests from the umbrella
Zionist group over a poem he wrote praising Palestinian martyrs as
dying 'to honour God's word.'
The envoy was also rebuked by the Foreign Office in London, which
said it made it clear that it regards suicide bombers as a 'form of
terrorism.'
But in his letter, posted on the Saudi embassy webpage, Algosaibi
remained unapologetic and reminded British Jewish leaders of Israel's
long history of involvement in terrorism and war crimes.
'Menachem Begin was responsible for the cold-blooded murder of
about 200 inncocent Palestinians, most women and children, in Deir
Yassin,' he said.
'Yatzhak Shamir was a notorious murderer of innocents, and would
have been hanged if the British Mandate government caught him,' he
said.
In his poem, published earlier this month in the Arab daily al-
Hayat, the ambassador paid special tribute to 16-year old Palestinian
teenager, Ayat Akhras, who sacrificed her life in Jerusalem in March.
He was also critical of US foreign policy in the Middle East.
