Just like in 1991 Arabs who think that cooperating with the lastest US war will trigger a change in US policies are deluding themsleves. If the US wins its war in Afghanistan thus removing the threat of serious retaliation -- its Mideast policies probably will grow even more one sided and belligerent.

US Distances Itself
From Middle East
Peace

Friday, November 09 2001 @ 05:53 PM GMT

Amman - Israel exulted on Thursday over US President
George W. Bush's remarks delinking the war in
Afghanistan from the crisis in the Middle East, while
Palestinians showed flashes of anger at Washington's
apparent distancing itself from the problem.

Bush said late Wednesday that the international
alliance he is leading against terror suspect Osama Ben
Laden in Afghanistan would succeed 'peace or no
peace in the Middle East.' Nevertheless a Palestinian
official said Europe is working on an initiative to stop 13
months of Mideast violence.

In Sweden, Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres said
the Jewish state wants to see a successful,
independent Palestinian state as a top aide to
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat said the time had come
to resume talks on creating one.

In another development, a Palestinian suicide bomber
blew himself up Thursday, injuring two Israeli policemen
as security forces closed in on him, Israeli officials said.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defence Minister Binyamin
Ben-Eliezer alleged that Palestinian leader Yasser
Arafat was becoming increasingly isolated from his
colleagues and that 'the ageing Arafat was leading his
people toward disaster.' Bush's comments on
Wednesday marked a public change for Washington,
which had been urging its ally Israel to reluctantly
accommodate itself with the Palestinians, to avoid
driving a wedge between the United States and Arab
backing that will cushion its war on Afghan Muslim
fundamentalists.

'There is no way whatever in which our action in
Afghanistan is conditional on progress in the Middle
East,' said British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who had
been discussing the war effort with Bush in
Washington.

The comments were applauded by Raanan Gissin,
spokesman to Israel's right-wing prime minister, Ariel
Sharon.

'That was our position all along, and we welcome that
statement. Ben Laden said all along that his real target
was the United States,' he told AFP.

Re: The US change its pro-Israel policies?

Humm, looks like the 800 lb. gorilla has taken his 1st Islamic sucker punch quite well. One wonders, however, if Israel can do the same when Iran's Al-Shabab-3 IRBM's with their CIS nuclear/chemical warheads come crashing down on Chicken Little's bagal bakery.

One also wonders if the launch codes for Sharon's farm in the Negev desert are available to the Iranians and Syrians--just yet! :)

You are obviously NOT an independent thinker. You are taking the mis-truths that are spoken to you by ignorant people and you are not using your own judgement. Do not be a sheep led by a shepherd. Be your own shepherd. Think for yourself.

This is a typical of viewpoint of a stupid person who does not consider the facts... The entire premise of your message is that you believed that the Arab nations, by supporting the war in 1991, somehow the US would change it's policies... how stupid of you. Why do you think the USA should owe you anything? You should be grateful that the USA eliminated the armed threat that Saddam was building, or he might have invaded more Arab countries than just Kuwait or Saudi Arabia. How would you like to live under the leadership of Saddam Hussein? Additionally, let me remind you that the United States came to the rescue of two Arab nations - Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Why should the USA owe you anything?? - let alone a change in policy..

Also, it is your attitude that stands as an obstacle to peace. You are looking for what you can get for the Palestinian cause, aren't you? If you approach the negotiations with an attitude of compromise, you will get more of what you want. You must approach the peace negotiations with an attitude of how YOU can contribute to bringing about peace. Only then, will you find peace. The Arabs and the Israeli's are quite alike in the minds of the average American in one very important way. You are BOTH fanatics, and you are both unwilling to compromise.
The reason the Unites States trusts Israel more is because the ISraeli government is democratic. All except ONE Arab country is democratic. All of the other Arab countries are run by tyrants and dictators. If you really want to bring about change, bring democracy into your governments and throw out the tyrants in your country who deprive the poor and live the life of rich men. America cannot be blamed for the problems in your region. Make clean your own filthy house before you decide to criticize a nation that tries to serve the world in a positive way.

Observer: 'US will not change its Middle East policies despite Arab cooperation.'

Nice try Senor 'Observer' but I have bad news for you--the US Middle Eastern policies will be 'changed for them!'

Yes, yes, I know all about the 800 lb. gorilla and his bad case of halitosis. But, in the end justice comes into the equation, and like ancient Rome, the US will 'with a whimper' concede that tying it's wagon to this 1/2 acre of Zionist hell will be the ruination of America.

But Of course, you HOLY ROLLERS will disagree, but let me ask you 'If God made us all in his image and loving us all, since when would he favor the Zionist killers over the rest of his children?

Psalm 145:20 sez it best:

'Jehovah is guarding all those loving him. But all the wicked ones he will annihilate.'

Epilog: Moses went to his grave trying to make winners out of these losers, he even pleaded with God not to kick them out of his kingdom and what did it get him? 40 years wandering in the desert for the arrogant incorrigibles and next time, let me assure you that the sentence will not be so light.
