Occupied Jerusalem: 5 May, 2002 (IAP News) - Israeli occupation soldiers on
Sunday shot and killed a Palestinian mother and her two children Eyewitnesses said the soldiers, a crew of an armored personnel carrier,
opened fire at Fatima Ibrahim Zakarna and her two children, Basel, 5, and
Abir, 3, as they were
walking near Jenin in the northern West Bank, killing them instantly.

The killing, described by eyewitnesses as ' a cold-blooded murder such as
one committed by street criminals and gangsters.'

'The victims were going to the nearby nursery, they were hundreds of meters
away from the Israeli vehicle, they posed no threat to the soldiers or the
tank whatsoever, yet the criminal soldiers opened fire from their
machineguns at the helpless woman and her two kids, killing them on the
spot,' said Nasser Ikmel who witnessed the killing.

'It is a Nazi-like crime, may God have mercy on us.'

The incident took place between the town of Qabatya and the village of
Zababdeh near Jenin where the Israeli army is believed to have committed
serious war crimes against civilians last month.

The Israeli state-run radio acknowledged the killing and said the army was
investigating it.

The radio, a virtual mouthpiece of the Israeli military spokesman, said
the soldiers opened fire in all directions when a small explosive device
went off near the armored vehicle, slightly injuring a soldier.

According to human rights organizations, including Israeli activists, the
Israeli army kill Palestinians with striking ease due to the absence of
international condemnation, especially from the United States.

The US seldom publicly censures Israel for killing Palestinian civilians,
even when they are murdered in the most brazen manner.

I wonder what pro-zionists on this message board will have to say about the actions of their IDF heroes?

The life of every palestinian child is worth as much as every american or israeli. Or is it not?

No point blaming Arafat or anyone else.
End the occupation, You will have peace.
Stay in the territories and suffer the consequences.

THE IDF IMMEDIATELY MADE A SINCERE APOLOGY. YOU THINK THEY MEANT TO INTENTIONALLY KILL THAT WOMAN AND HER CHILDREN?
IF YOU DO THAN YOU ARE STUPIDER THAN I GIVE YOU CREDIT FOR.

CNN said that they were killed inadvertently when shot through the walls of a house they were in... Is this true or were they out in the open and clearly visible?...

IDF troops foiled an attempt to breach the border fence near Kissufim junction in the Gaza Strip on Sunday night. Soldiers opened fire after identifying two Palestinians crossing the fence.

A large number of reinforcements were brought into the area and, in the ensuing gun battle, an IDF soldier was lightly injured.

Ealier Sunday, a Palestinian woman and her two children were killed Sunday when an IDF tank opened fire near the West Bank town of Jenin after an explosive device detonated near the tank. An IDF soldier who was lightly wounded in the incident received treatment in the field.

The soldiers opened fire after spotting suspicious figures in a nearby grove, killing the woman and her two children, the military said.

The IDF expressed its 'deep sorrow' over the incident and said it regretted the loss of civilian life.
