Mohajerani says 'tolerance' a cornerstone for dialogue idea
Tehran, May 29, IRNA -- Head of the Center for Dialogue Amongst
Civilizations Ataollah Mohajerani said here Wednesday that the
principles of tolerance and permissiveness were a cornerstone for
dialogue plan.
In a meeting with the Tunisian Minister of Religious Affairs
Jallul Jaribi, he said the West has to try to study the East and Islam
so as to be in a position to have better understanding of the Muslim
World and its values.
The Muslims have been involved and made great breakthroughs in
many scientific fields, he said adding however that Muslims have now
to ask themselves why they lag behind the developed world as for the
technological matters.
Elsewhere Mohajerani elaborated on the principle of permissiveness
and leniency in Islam and said permissiveness and lenience, are both
referring to adoption of the most peaceful approaches to discover the
truth and to reach spiritual perfection.
Any religion in which permissiveness and leniency is highlighted
promises a blessed life in this world.
The Islamic countries need cultural dialogue between themselves,
Mohajerani said.
He stressed that Islamic countries have experienced some success
in this process, among which one can recall a measure on part of some
Muslim states to establish offices for promotion of the dialogue.
He said this can be considered a positive and important step
towards the advancement of the dialogue among civilizations.
Jaribi, for his part, said the dialogue was a topic of prime
importance in today's world adding that is why Tunisia is attaching
increasing attention to it.
The Tunisian minister called for more effective measures to
promote the idea of the dialogue.
