I FEEL FOR THESE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE. I KNOW THAT THEY DESERVE A BIT BETTER THAN WHAT THEY HAVE, BUT WHOM CAN THEY BLAME FOR THEIR SUFFERINGS? THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE. THE ARAB NATIONS!! SPECIFICLLY EGYPT & JORDAN & OVERALL
THE REST OF ARAB WORLD. I BROUGHT THIS BEFORE, THAT BOTH EGYPT & JORDAN DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP THIS PEOPLE. THEY THOUGHT THAT BY DESTRYING ISRAEL THEY WOULD ADD ON TO THEIR OWN TERRITORIES. A PALESTINIAN STATE WAS THE LAST THING IN THEIR MIND. MY FELLOW AMERICANS; WHO WAS THE ONE WHO KICKED THE U.N. FORCES OUT OF SINAI & CLOSED THE TIRAN STRAITS TO ISRAEL & MASSED ITS TROOPS ON HER BORDER? IT WAS NASSER OF EGYPT! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? IT MEANS WE WANT WAR,
& THEY GOT IT!! PALESTINIANS HAD A GREAT CHANCE FOR HAVEING THEIR OWN STATE, BUT THANKS TO THEIR ARAB BROTHERS. JUST THINK ABOUT IT... HOW MANY LIVES WOULD HAVE BEEN SPARED!!

Campaign to boycott Israeli products and tourism launched at British House of Commons
Palestine Solidarity Campaign

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

London, 5 July 2001: A boycott of Israeli products and leisure tourism was launched at the House of Commons last night. A packed meeting heard Members of Parliament Lynn Jones and George Galloway pledge their support for the boycott called by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and 22 other organizations.

Organizers say the boycott will send a message to the Israeli government that the British people are no longer prepared to indirectly fund Israel's war of aggression on the Palestinian people. They also ask the British government to stop condoning Israel's failure to implement United Nations resolutions on Palestine.

The first target will be agricultural produce sold in the main supermarkets, such as tomatoes, Jaffa oranges, potatoes, avocados, fresh herbs and organic fruit and vegetables. The boycott will be lifted when Israel ends its illegal occupation, complies with UN resolutions and ceases human rights violations.

'This is a non-violent way to raise public awareness...', Dr Lynn Jones MP said.

George Galloway MP spoke out against the welcome to Downing Street given to Ariel Sharon last week. 'This war criminal is given the red carpet treatment everywhere he goes instead of being locked up for human rights abuses.'

Professor Moshe Machover said: 'People ask whether the Palestinian economy will be damaged by a boycott. Such worries do not apply in this case. The Palestinian economy has been throttled by Israel.' He accused Israel of 'smuggling contraband', evading customs and excise regulations as they re-export goods produced on illegal settlements in the West Bank and Gaza.

Michel Massih, the first Palestinian QC, told the meeting that every Jaffa orange sold contributes towards destroying the city of Jaffa.

Poet and broadcaster Michael Rosen said he would have 'no problem' supporting a cultural and academic boycott of Israel. 'Just say no,' he said.

Members of Parliament supporting the campaign include John Austin, Bill Etherington and Neil Gerrard. The veteran parliamentarian, Tony Benn, is also a signatory along with Harold Pinter, Caryl Churchill, Emma Thompson, Tom Paulin, Benjamin Zephaniah, Leon Rosselson, and Alexei Sayle. Among academics supporting the boycott are Professors Steven and Hilary Rose. Lawyers are represented by Michael Mansfield QC, Imran Khan and Gareth Peirce. Church leaders for the boycott include the Reverend Garth Hewitt, Reverend Steven Sizer and Reverend Dr Michael Prior.

Do you believe in GOD?
Do you agree that each and everybody is on the same level in GODīs wisdom and love.
To reject religions in general, as I do, does not mean not to know humility.
Do you agree that the killing of live is a sin before GOD?
If you can agree to these points, then you canīt differ between Israelis and Palestinians. They are all legatimated to live there. But only when they can give a proof of their origin. A person who is not born in Israel but belongs to the jewish faith, should not automatically become an Israeli. Why canīt these people stay and live where they were born? My father is from Palestine and I am born in germany. I will never get the idea to settle down in Palestine and become a palestinian. I am german and I will stay a german.

Wisso- the USA and Israel keep 'client regimes' in place to order to do their political bidding. The US pays 'hush money'- opps, I mean AID money to keep Eygpt and Jordan compliant to US foreign policy in the region. The Palestinian are in a threeway grip called the 'Palestinian sandwich'. Israel and the two countries above, with the help of Uncle Sam keep the Palestinian revolt 'contained' and 'manageable'.Instead of dealing with the issues on the basis of human rights and justice for all in the region, the US and Israel prefer to allow the Palestinian people to suffer in eternity. In short the Pals are been ROYALLY SCREWED, while Sharon's BULLDOZER policy rumbles on and on and on and on.....
And the Americans WONDER why things like Sept 11th, the US Embassy bombings and the USS Cole keep occuring with such regularity. If only the Americans would take a more NEUTRAL stance on some of the worlds most dangerous problems and stop playing one country off against the other for political one upmanship. India and Pakistan are on the brink of allout war.........I bet the Yanks side with India and wag their finger to Pakistan that they are the 'naughty country' at fault. Pakistan has very serious internal problems that NEED political understanding from the USA, not political lecturing from ignorant western politicans that have no clue to what Pakistan has has managed to achieve in the short teneture of Musharuff. For a start, Musharruff has closed down dozens of militant Madassra schools and organisations and launched a program of reform to crackdown on corruption at all levels. Personally I think Musharuff is the best thing to happen to Pakistan in a long time.

The german governments after 1945 never reacted in the same way. The last terror act in Tunesia wasnīt respond by any bombings from germany, even when there died 15 germans.
I donīt want to say that this or that reaction is wrong or right.
But who knows how to react right?
If you use your Holy Bible whats about the other cheek that one has to turn?
Revenge is a strange thing. You kill one and another will kill you for killing his friend or family member. A nice circle of violance. But the pitty is, you can resurrect any dead victims. So where is the sense?
Only humans can act like humans, because animals donīt act in revenge. And who is brave and honorable enough to break this circle? You? I, by myself? Can you calm down when something bad happen to you? I guess we all need some more selfcontrol. Selfcontrol that is described in all actions of God or Jesus. So why donīt people live after the Holy Bible? When we donīt start to examine the roots & reasons for any terror acts, we will never get any peace. In Northern Ireland there are terrorists to, christian terrorists. And as a 'civilised' nation that should think first before acting, no British PM has ever given the order to bomb Belfast. As western people we always ask ourselves how barbaric some people can be. But the guilt for their behavior is rooted deep in our western civilisations with an neverending history of slavery and exploitation.
It is easy to lose control. Sometimes I am deeply angry on the 'jews' or on any other foreigners. But in the end it is more challenging for me to search for reasons and solutions to my own human behavior. The industrial, imperialistical and money-controlled governments in our western civilisations held the clue for this problem. We must agree to foreign countries as equal partners, not as another source for our wealthiness. The money that is spent on weapons every year, would guarantee the education, the food and drinking for all people on our planet. What a waste of time and human resources only for the satisfaction of single groups who believe to stay higher than any other human. And sadly they trie to legatimate their cruelness in the name of GOD.
So who is more barbaric? The ones who want to survive with all means, or the ones who live in luxery and prosper and put a constant pressure on the others?
I canīt blame one side more than the other. Sorry!

How Victory turned into Disaster
Thirty five years after the biggest military victory in the history of Israel,
we are stuck in the deepest mud. For those who want to forget,
or those who were not here at the time,
some reminders of how it began.
One evening in the summer of 1967, I was invited to give a lecture on a kibbutz on the Syrian border.
Afterwards I was invited, as usual, to have coffee and chatter in the room of one of the members in an intimate circle.
'Last week Dado was here,' the host told me, 'He said that every evening,
before going to sleep, he prays to God that Nasser would concentrate his army in the Sinai desert. There we shall destroy it.'
David Elazar, nicknamed Dado, was at the time the Officer Commanding the northern sector.
Gamal Abd-al-Nasser, the Egyptian president, was the idol of the Arab world.
I remembered this a few weeks later, when Abd-al-Nasser surprised the world and indeed sent his forces into Sinai. When all of Israel was trembling with fear and worry,
I published in my magazine, Haolam Hazeh, an article entitled 'Nasser has Walked into a Trap'.
That was on May 24, a day after the Egyptian leader had closed the Tiran straits to Israeli shipping, committing an act of war.
People thought that I had gone crazy.
History is a cruel old woman with a twisted sense of humor,
who likes to fool humans and trick whole nations. She turns victory into disaster, and vice versa.
During the 'weeks of anxiety', on the eve of that war, many thought that Israel was in existential danger, that any minute we would be thrown into the sea.
When the government decided, in the end, to order the attack, the astounding victory looked like a miracle.
The swiftness and dimensions of the victory, as well as the extent of the territories occupied and the conquest of the Western Wall,
caused a delirium of joy that lasted for six years, until the Yom Kippur war.
On the fifth day of the Six-Day War I wrote an Open Letter to the Prime Minister, Levy Eshkol.
I pointed out that now, with the West Bank and the Gaza Strip occupied by the IDF, there was a historic opportunity to make peace for generations.
I proposed conducting an immediate plebiscite among the Palestinians, giving them the choice of establishing a Palestinian state, at peace with Israel and with its support.
For me this was not a spontaneous idea. During the preceding 15 years,
when the West Bank was ruled by Jordan and the Gaza Strip by Egypt,
I had propounded in Haolam Hazeh the idea of a Palestinian state, as the only way of achieving peace. I had proposed to supply the Palestinians with arms and money, in order to enable help them to liberate themselves and set up their own state next to Israel.
The Open Letter to Eshkol was published on June 9 in Daf (a short-lived daily paper I published at the time).
I repeated the idea in greater detail in Haolam Hazeh on June 14.
At the same time I asked the Prime Minister for a meeting.
Eshkol invited me few days later to his room in the Knesset.
(I was then a Knesset member for the 'Haolam Hazeh - New Force' party. I explained the idea:
the Arab world is in a state of shock, the Palestinians are freed from Jordanian and Egyptian rule and are for the first time able to take their fate into their own hands. In such a rare situation,
a bold initiative can change the consciousness of whole nations.
Arab culture glorifies generous gestures of victors at the time of their triumph.
If Israel comes now, on the morrow of its incredible victory, and offers the Palestinian freedom and national independence in all the occupied territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, a new era will start.
Eshkol, a pleasant and humorous person, listened patiently.
When I was done, he smiled: 'Uri, what kind of merchant are you? When negotiating a deal, one starts by offering the minimum and demanding the maximum. In the course of the negotiation one compromises and meets the other side somewhere in the middle.'
I answered: 'Mr. Prime Minister, that is true if you are selling a horse.
It is not true when you want to put an end to a historical conflict between peoples.'
Everyone knows what followed. But some months later there was another dialogue of sorts between Eshkol and me. I was making almost daily speeches in the Knesset about the need to set up a Palestinian state,
literally speaking to the wall. One day I had a run-in with the Prime Minister.
I told the Knesset that I had personally canvassed the views of all the prominent leaders on the West Bank, and all of them had told me that they prefer a Palestinian state to a return to Jordan.
Eshkol dismissed my speech out of hand. But on the next day his advisor for Arab affairs, Moshe Sasson, called and told me that the Prime Minister has asked him to meet with me, in order to find out on what information I based my assertion.
The meeting took place in the Knesset on November 19, 1967.
We compared notes. Afterwards Sasson submitted his report to the Prime Minister and sent me a copy. The salient passage says:
'There was no basic difference of opinion between my assessment and that of Mr. Avnery…(but) the question is whether the Arabs want such a state if it does not include (East) Jerusalem.
Since we are not willing to give back Arab Jerusalem, the whole debate about a Palestinian state becomes an abstract and useless one.
Neither I nor Mr. Avnery could point to one of the West Bank leaders who would be willing to support the idea of a Palestinian state without Jerusalem.'
If someone today asks how, 35 years ago, we lost a historic chance to make peace, here lies the answer.

Musharuff started clamping down on institutionalised corruption from the day he first took over. Pakistan has suffered from decades of official corruption from top to bottom. Even the airport staff took bribes from overseas travellers entering the country. Carol-Granted it is true that successive Pakistani leaders have neglected to clamp down on militants within Pakistan. What you have to realise is that Musharruf is not religious, he is strictly a military man who wants to see his country modernise and overcome the effects crippling poverty. Musharruff has a vision for Pakistan. He realises that Pakistan must become a secular Islamic state. With the amount of fanatisism that pervades RURAL Pakistan, these may be the most dangerous years in office for him. This is WHY the West should embrace a country like Pakistan who's youth are looking for economic advancement and career opportunies to better their lives. I cannot see why India cannot have eye to eye talks with Perves Musharruff. He is willing to talk at any time to come to some agreement over the issue of Kashmir. Don't you think the ordinary people of Kashmir deserve some respite from endless shelling from the both sides of this conflict? While Vashpayee waves his hands in the air and says no to talks of any kind ordinary folk are paying for his recalistrant stand with their lives. And instead of America dictating her demands to Pakistan that she reigns in her militants, she should be vigorisly seeking new innovative ways to defuse the running sore that creates the ongoing rise in militancy in the Pakistani countryside . Much like Israel, India has shunned help from the outside world to solve the situation. Don't forget Carol, Indonesia is another Islamic country that is on incredibly shaky ground. Diplomacy and a concerted effort by the West to undertsand countries in transition is very important to world stability. Just because we are democracies, that doesn't mean we automatically have all the right answers. Humility is the one commodity that the West is sorely lacking when dealing with countries that are not in our sphere of political thought.

I like Musharruff because he is very direct and honest about the massive problems that face Pakistan. Indeed, he is a RAY OF SUNSHINE compared to past CORRUPT 'DEMOCRATIC' leaders that have plaqued the Pakistani political landscape. What is worse Wisso.........a BENEVOLANT DICTATOR who genuinely has his people's interests at heart OR a thoroughly CORRUPT 'DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED'POLITICAN that lines his own pockets and allows his country to sink into massive debt and poverty? I think Musharruf will work with the West as long as WE are open and honest in our dealings with him. Laying ALL the blame on Pakistan for this current crisis in Kashmir is not the way to foster better ties with her. And remember Wisso..........India is NOT the hard done by innocent wounded party in this crisis. THEY too have a lot to answer for in playing the 'game'. Their Hindu fanatics burnt to death two little Australian boys and their father to death inside their car. They were working for a Christian Aid Agency helping to deliver relief to impoverished Indians. The reaction from the Indian government to that diabolical act was less than impressive. Life is cheap, and that is why you have both these governments facing one another off with a massive force of 1 million men.
