Thank you Mr. Avnery for your support of a just peace between the Palestinians and Israelis. Thank you also for telling people that Barak's generous offer was just a lie. Media, politicians, commentators, and writers in the west and in Israel mislead people by saying 'Barak offered the Palestinians almost everything they are asking for, but they refused, because their real goal is to destroy Israel'. As a matter of fact, only idiots believe what Israel and her lobby are saying. It is so easy to browse the Internet and find out what Barak really offered and what restrictions he wanted to have on the Palestinians. Barak, Peres, and of course Netenyahu and Sharon were never seeking peace, because they never stopped building settlements everywhere in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and they never honored their accords with PA. There are many Palestinians and there are Israelis who are seeking a just peace, but unfortunately the Israeli government never prepared the Israelis and the Jewish people all over the world for peace. As an evidence, see what most Israelis and most Jews think of the Palestinians and of the Arabs. The Israeli people must reach the conclusion that there will be no real peace until Israel withdraws fully from all the land it occupied in 1967 and until Israel allows a fully independent Palestinian state with no restrictions. Without that Israel is fooling itself and its citizens. Israel may succeed in silenting the Palestinian resistance for sometime and may succeed in reducing the area under control of the Palestinians, but that will be counterproductive in the long run, because Israeli actions increase the determination of the Palestinians to attain their legitime aspirations. Israel will not be able to keep fooling the world. Today Israel has powerful media and powerful lobby in the west which has a strong media and financial base. The situation in the future will change. The future and the events in the world will not be in favor of Israel. Israel now is reaching its top and will soon begin losing everything. Israel made many people in the world reach a boiling point because of Israel's blackmailing and threats. The golden era will not last long and it is better for Israel to accept the Saudi intitiative and seek a just peace not a surrender of the Palestinians. If there were no peace, no Palestinian will forget what Israel did and what Israel is doing to the Palestinians. No Palestinian will forget the suffering and the cover up of the Israeli war crimes and Israel's crimes against humanity. People of Israel must recognize that they cannot impose their peace terms - which mean surrender - on the Palestinians and then fool the Palestinians and the world by calling that a just peace. People of Israel must recognize their government and their army are destroying their future and hiding the truth from them. The Israeli government always made its citizens believe the Arabs want to destroy Israel, Israel's future is in danger, occupation of the West Bank and Gaza is for security reasons, Israel cannot withdraw entirely from the West Bank because of security reasons or religious Jewish sites, the Palestinians are uncivilized aggresive people with whom real peace is impossible, Israel is always doing the right thing, Israel's crimes are not crimes but either mistakes or because of Palestinian fault, and so on. Such lies will not fly forever. Treating the Palestinians as slaves with minimum rights or no rights will not help ISrael in the long run. The anger and suffering of Palestinians caused by Israel's brutal occupation will the weak Palestinian people much stronger and more determined. The power's balance may change in the future. If Israel does not work hard on a just lasting peace, Israel will be a victim of its own actions. By Israel's logic, it would be valid for the Palestinians and the Arabs to do to Israel what Israel did to them. I believe moderate people on the Israeli side have a great deal of responsibility. They must educate the Israeli public and tell them the truth. They must tell the Israeli public their government is destroying their future and their state. Then the Israeli people must press their government to be realistic and to withdraw completely from the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem and to allow the Palestinians to have a fully idependent state. When that happens, those radical Palestinian groups will lose support and will be silented. Actually, some of those groups have already shown indications they will stop their attacks if ISrael does what I mentioned above. If there were a just peace, the Palestinian people will not allow those radical groups to keep operating. Believe me the Palestinians are tired from suffering. They lived a miserable life and they don't want to keep living the same life. They want to live in peace and with no suffering. Don't believe your government when it says to you the Palestinians want to destroy ISrael. Think about it: how can the Palestinians destroy Israel with this huge military and nuclear arsenal?!! Will the Palestinians be stronger than Syria and Egypt? Did Syria and Egypt (both have borders with Israel and close to highly populated Israeli areas) manage to destroy Israel?! Is the entire Arab world capable of destroying Israel?! My friends a just peace based on 1967 borders and with no restrictions on the Palestinians will lead to a peaceful respected life for both the Palestinians and the Israelis. Anything else will not give Israel neither security nor peace. On the contrary, it will increase the suffering of both sides. Don't be fooled by 'security', 'self-defense', 'fighting terrorism', 'fear of destruction', ... Those are just terms used by your government to mislead you. And don't believe your government when it says a military solution is possible and crushing the Palestinian resistance is possible. Think about it. In more than 50 years, Israel did not succeed in crushing the Palestinian resistance. You tried many different prime ministers. No one of them succeeded. That means no one else will succeed in the future. They tried everything but with no results. So, don't gamble by waiting for a prime minister that will succeed in crushing the Palestinian resistance or by waiting for new tactics that will crush the Palestinian resistance as a magic. If you believe so, you're wrong. Even if Israel transfers the Palestinians, that will not end the conflict. The Palestinians and the Arabs will not disappear. Believe me most Arabs and most Palestinians are starving for a just real peace. Don't lose this opportunity. Press your government to withdraw to 1967 borders and to allow a fully independent Palestinian state, then you and the Palestinians will enjoy a lasting peace with open borders and with friendship instead of enmity and hatred. We need millions of people like Mr. Avnery. God bliss you Mr. Avnery.
