Saddam threatens 'victory over Israel with the Palestinians'
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF AND AP

Iraqi President Saddam Hussein threatened Thursday he would one day celebrate a victory over Israel with the Palestinians, media reports said.

He was quoted by Army Radio from a speech in Baghdad marking the anniversary of the end of the Iraq-Iran war of 1980-88.

The Iraqi leader also issued veiled threats against the US, saying that anyone who attacks his country will die in 'disgraceful failure.'

The United States has warned Iraq of consequences if it does not allow UN inspections to resume, and Iraqi diplomats have held three meetings with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan this year to discuss the issue and related topics.

'The right way is that the Security Council should reply to the questions raised by Iraq and should honor its obligations under its own resolutions,' Saddam said in the televised speech.

'There is no other choice for those who use threat and aggression,' he added.

Saddam was referring to 19 questions given to Annan at a meeting in March, and to security council resolutions which say that UN sanctions on Iraq can be lifted once it has eliminated its weapons of mass destruction and met other requirements.

Iraq has long said it has fulfilled these conditions and that the sanctions imposed since its 1990 invasion of Kuwait should be lifted.

Annan circulated the 19 questions to the Security Council members, who have not replied. The questions deal with various Iraqi complaints, including the prospect of a US attack and the scope of weapons inspections.

Saddam spoke dressed in a dark gray suit in front of a white curtain and with a spread of white lilies on his desk.

As he spoke, about 15,000 members of the 'Jerusalem Army' marched through Baghdad in a display of support for the president. Dressed in khaki uniforms and carrying Kalashikov rifles, the marchers bore photographs of Saddam and Palestinian and Iraqi flags.

In the past week, the government has organized several such demonstrations by the Jerusalem Army, a force of civilians that Saddam set up in 2000 with the aim of driving the Israelis out of Jerusalem and supporting the Palestinian uprising.

Reports from Washington say the US government is gearing up for an attack to topple Saddam. US officials have not ruled out such a strike, but insist no decision has been made.
US Vice President Dick Cheney said Wednesday that if Saddam is not stopped, 'it's the judgment of many of us that, in the not too distant future, he will acquire nuclear weapons.'

Cheney said he was skeptical that the return of UN inspectors, whom Iraq has refused access since 1998, would solve the problem of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

In his speech, Saddam did not name America and Britain, but referred to them as the 'forces of evil' a phrase the Baghdad government frequently uses after US-British airstrikes in the no-fly zones over northern and southern Iraq.

'The forces of evil will carry their coffins on their backs to die in disgraceful failure,' he said.

Saddam told viewers that the Iraq-Iran war ended in victory and sounded upbeat about the country's current predicament.

'Darkness shall be defeated, and every cloud that carries no useful rain shall be dispersed, giving way to the sun to usher in endless spring, blessed by God,' he said.

To the Lynette impersonator- you are a sick Yid mate. Saddam must go.....and so must Herr Sharon and co. We all know that Israel is the supreme superpower in the region and Saddam hasn't got a rat's arse in 'defeating' Israel. Us Ozzie's remember his now famous 'The Mother of all Battles' speech.....Christ we felt sorry for those poor reservists that got fried to a crisp in those lorries fleeing back home to Bagdad. The poor bastards didn't know what hit them and who can forget the pitiful scenes in the desert when they surrendered to the Yanks. They came with their hands up in the air, crying, shaking and petrified. Even the GI Joe's felt sorry for them.......

Don't blame the people....blame the leader and the henchmen that surround him. This man rules by fear.

A nine minute commentary by theAZCowBoy.....

America is an interesting country, huh folks? 'The land of the free and the home of the brave'--suddenly has become the land of imperialism and the home of these smirking, macho man 'Chickenhawk' ( draft dodgers posing as real patriotic hawks--like Bush, Cheny, Asscroft, et. al ).

The Washington 'Chickenhawks'say 'LOVE SADDAM' ( Reagan era--1980's ) and the American 'sheep' get down on their knees and adore the man, sending the man billion$ in US arms and support

The 'Chickenhawks' then say HATE SADDAM ( OR THE Ayatolla Komeini, Kaddafy, et. al. ) and the US sheep immediately respond like a colosium full of drunk Romans with their obviously sick, 'Kill!' 'Kill!' 'Kill!' symptoms of chronic mental illness.

I never blamed the Iranian's for hating the GREAT SATAN for overthrowing their legtimate government and installing the brutal Shah.

I damned the US, and the unindicted Jewish criminal, Henry Kissinger, for the brutal assassination of the democratically elected president of Chile ( Allende ) in the 1970's.

I believe that WTC, was the Arab's world's way of saying to America--'Stop FUGGING with us you Jew arse kissing bastards!'

Why do you think so many people around the planet 'couldn't' be seen 'clapping' in the privacy of their homes--except on Al Jazerra, of course?

Another interesting thing about America is their chronic hypocrisy. The Zionist low lives--armed to the teeth with nuclear, chemical, biological, the Jericho II IRBM and the best weapons in the US arsenal ( from the shiny General Dynamics F-16's to the horrendous Apache helicopter gunships to the M-16's automatic weapons every Settler viper carries with him everywhere he goes ) and the US points fingers at the Arab countries that are concerned about these colonizing Zionist parasites--and the US then works around the clock to 'disarm' them?!'

In closing, let me repeat DIM BULB's favorite closing:

'God Bless America!'
( Are you listening God? )

Hey Sharon- Get some professional help pal. Talk to a refusenik today! Coz they may be Israel's only saving grace. Better seek help in the weight department too. Both you and that defence minister of yours are prime candidates for massive heart failure.........
