As of Monday, July 2, 2007, at least 3,583 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes seven military civilians. At least 2,942 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.

A soldier from Milton has died in Iraq, the Department of Defense announced Monday. Staff Sgt. Robb L. Rolfing, 29, died Sunday in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered from enemy small arms fire.

Most American voters (53%) say that Democrats in Congress have not done "enough to change President Bush's policies in Iraq.' A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 26% hold the opposite view and believe the Democrats have done too much on Iraq. Thirteen percent (13%) say Congress has done the right amount of pushing while 8% are not sure.
