As has happened before, the Israelia and the Americans are using senior sell-out Palestinians, bribing them with considerable power and money, to further control and further repress the Palestinian people.
Gov't sources: Sharon met Palestinian finance minister Fayed
[Reuters - Haaretz - 17 Feb]:
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon held talks recently with Palestinian Authority Finance Minister Salam Fayed, a cabinet minister spearheading a reform drive in Yasser Arafat's PA, senior government sources said on Monday.
Fayad, is a former international banker who has been widely hailed by the United States and other Western peace brokers for launching financial reforms in Palestinian institutions.
He has been touted as a top candidate to become Palestinian prime minister. Arafat, the Palestinian Authority chairman, announced on Friday he would establish the post under a peace plan backed by Washington, the European Union, Russia and the United Nations.
Fayad and Sharon met recently at the prime minister's official residence in Jerusalem, the sources said, without giving the exact date of the talks.
"They met for two hours. It was a get-to-know-you meeting. They exchanged views on the situation and the way in which progress could be made towards a cease-fire and resuming the peace process," one of the sources said.
Fayad and other Palestinian officials were not immediately available to comment.
Sharon last met a top Palestinian official about two weeks ago, holding talks with Ahmed Qureia, the speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council.
