ABUMAZEN MUST RESIGN AND APOLOGIZE

The daily situation experienced by the Palestinian People in the Occupied Territories nowadays can only express the extent and depth of the fascism of the Israeli military establishment. The instituted assassination operations are as abundant as ever, and hardly a day passes without the Palestinians mourning their martyrs in Gaza Strip and the West Bank. More mothers and families are being punished by the butcher Sharon in the shadow of total Arab silence and international collusion over the slaughtering of the Palestinian People, the orphaning of its children, and the curfew imposed on whole Palestinian provinces such as Nablus, Jenin, and Hebron (Al-Khalil). It is as if the [U.S. sponsored] Road Map has indeed become the map of blood, suffering, and woes to a people that longs for freedom and has a thirst for peace, independence and getting rid of the yoke of the worst occupation humanity has known in known history. Meanwhile, the Palestinian prisoners and the detainees in the Israeli jails increase day by day, and the wall of racist separation (Apartheid) devours the Palestinian stones, trees, and human beings with the barbarity of the Israeli bulldozers and machinery.
On the other hand, unfortunately and to great pain, the Abu Mazin (Mahmoud Abbas) -led government slips and bumbles politically with all its God-given power, slips and bumbles that do not leave anything of the supreme national Palestinian interest. Instead of the Mahmoud Abbas government declaring a stop to its contacts with the institution of the Israeli occupation due to its crimes, barbarity, and its murder of Palestinian women and children, this government takes pride in ceasing its contacts with the factions of the Palestinian resistance. And instead of pouring all its rage on and doing all it could to pressure the Israelis to stop their aggression and violations, this government rushes without consideration to encircle the ability of Palestinian acts of resistance and to neutralize (disarm) it through destructive and incendiary policies and statements. And instead of this government closing ranks with the legitimacy and symbolism of the Palestinian struggle represented by President Yasser Arafat, we find that it acts as a local apparatus (tool) to attempt to attack him and to further encircle him, perhaps more than Sharon himself does. A Palestinian government where some of its ministers consider that the Palestinian resistance is what poses a danger to the supreme national Palestinian interest, but not the haughtiness of the Israeli occupation and its terror, is one that does not express the pulse of the Palestinian street and does not express its feelings, ambitions, hopes, and reactions. Who else would determine the supreme national Palestinian interest more than the existing and effective Palestinian forces that spring out of the depth of the Palestinian suffering and works towards ending such torment; it is surely not this or that minister. The Palestinian condition is as dangerous as can be and wisdom must prevail, rather than the weaving of schemes, because the symbol of the Palestinian struggle and the Palestinian resistance and rights are divine matters, no less in sanctity than the earth and its sacrosanct things.
It is time for the government of Mahmoud Abbas to save face and apologize for the Palestinian People, this great People with all of its martyrs, its wounded, its prisoners, and its afflicted. This government needs to apologize for what was said by some of its ministers against the Palestinian resistance, and this government needs to resign immediately since it is no longer accepted among the Palestinian ranks generally, especially among the ranks of the Fatah Movement [the liberation movement founded by Arafat], which forms the forefront of the Palestinian struggle and resistance. It is no longer feasible for this government to push the Palestinian People from one political tragedy to another, from folly to nothingness, and from unity to division and disarray. The (Palestinian) condition is more dangerous than for this or that minister to make a statement here and there. This experimentation with the Palestinian fate is not acceptable by any one party whatever it may be.
Meanwhile, if we consider the positions of the United States, nothing pleases it more than having a Palestinian local apparatus (tool) that seeks to achieve its [U.S.] goals, such as their failing and fading attempts to weaken and marginalize President Yasser Arafat and to work towards symbolically and politically assassinating him in the midst of a society that adores him and is adored by him, and such assaulting against the Palestinian resistance and the work towards finishing it off in order to satisfy the Israeli occupiers.
The tasks that are needed currently are not the hunting of the resistors, but the pursuit of the collaborators and the spies and putting a firm end to their roles. And the bulk of the pressures now should be directed towards restraining the terrorist government of Sharon, and not towards innocent people who defend themselves, their homeland, their dignity, and the dignity of the whole (Arab) nation. And what is acceptable currently is declaring obedience and loyalty to the symbol of Palestinian struggle Yasser Arafat, but not attempting to encircle him because he proves time after time, like a unique chess player, that there is no place for the justifications and the machinery that attempt to make the Palestinian People kneel down (bow to the ground). The Palestinian People is the one that gave birth to Faris Odeh [Palestinian kid who was killed while stubbornly throwing stones at an Israeli tank], the Knight of Return, and the one that made of the [refugee] camp of despair and deprivation in Jenin a castle of courage and pride so as to deserve the title of Jenin-grad [similar to Leningrad] because of the legendary Palestinian hero Abu Jandal [Palestinian camp fighter] and his companions who did not submit to the arrogance and might of the [Israeli] occupation.
