The real battle is not primarily a military one but a political and geo-strategic one. With only months to go before the long-promised and twice delayed Iraqi elections, the occupation forces and their regime are way down and the clerics and the populist movements are way up. Soon after the American November election the U.S. will have to decide just what it is going to try to do to either further delay elections in Iraq, or to twist them to its own designs. It's not going to be easy. And it probably is going to be still more bloody.
