The Saudis royals, and the few Saudi elite at the top who serve them, have been involved in all kinds of things of this kind for quite a long time. But they are desperate what they have done, and what they are really all about, not
find its way into the news -- and certainly not onto Al-Jazeera. For the Saudis have also spend until millions and billions buying up and coopting journalists and as much of the media as they could manage to neutralize. This then is the backdrop to their insisting at all costs on covering up this latest explosive exposee of how they live and play. It is but the tip of the iceberg. But it is a tip so tintillating and so outrageous that it has the potential under today's conditions to bring the whole Royal family and "Saudi" Arabia finally tumbling down; and they know it.
And that's also why the Saudis are very busy at the moment strengthening their U.S. connection with the CIA and the Pentagon -- for it is the alliance with the Americans they expect will keep them in power one way or another.
From the article: "SAUDI ARABIA is threatening to suspend diplomatic ties with Britain unless Downing Street intervenes to block an investigation into a £60m “slush fund” allegedly set up for some members of its royal family.
A senior Saudi diplomat in London has delivered an ultimatum to Tony Blair that unless the inquiry into an allegedly corrupt defence deal is dropped, diplomatic links between Britain and Saudi Arabia will be severed, a defence source has disclosed.
The Saudis, key allies in the Middle East, have also threatened to cut intelligence co-operation with Britain over Al-Qaeda."
They have repeated their threat that they will terminate payments on a defence contract that could be worth £40 billion and safeguard at least 10,000 British jobs.
The Saudis are furious about the criminal investigation by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) into allegations that BAE Systems, Britain’s biggest defence company, set up the “slush fund” to support the extravagant lifestyle of members of the Saudi royal family.
