ISRAELIS PREPARE WAY TO TAKE OUT ARAFAT REGIME AND TO TAKE ON IRAN'S NEW WEAPON SYSTEMS

July 11, 2001

MID-EAST REALITIES © - www.MiddleEast.Org - Washington - 7/11: Whatever the truth of Israel's latest allegations against both the Arafat Authority and Iran, there should be little doubt what the Israelis are really up to at this point, with Shimon Peres leading the charge. If it comes to taking out the Arafat Regime the Israelis are threatening everyone to get out of their way or else. And if it comes to a larger regional war of sorts the Israeli army may well strike far and wide in an orgastic attempt to destroy advanced weapons systems throughout the region and buy themselves still more years of unchallenged regional military supremacy. As for making Hanan Ashrawi the mouth of the Arab League, this attempt to give the Arab "client regimes" a better image isn't really going to change much -- much too late for that even though the new Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa may think he can mask the gross weakness, incompetence, divisions and corruption of the organization he now heads with such a ploy. As for Ashrawi herself, sad to say, far overrated and considerably co-opted herself...stay tuned for much detail about the real Ashrawi shortly.

ARAFAT: "KILL AS MANY SETTLERS AS YOU CAN"

"Kill as many settlers as you can " said Yasser Arafat and instructed his men "kill a settler every day", "don't pay attention to everything I say in the media"

By Ben Caspit

[Ma'ariv - 11 July 200] Yasser Arafat instructed his men to "kill a settler every day" and asked them to "shoot at settlers everywhere."

According to a report put on the tables of the decision makers in Jerusalem, Arafat recently instructed his people to increase the attacks on the settlers. "Woe to you if you let them reach their homes safely or travel safely on the roads," said Arafat. Along with this, Arafat instructed them not to open fire from Area A that is under his exclusive control and not to initiate attacks within the territory of Israel [IMRA: within the Green Line]. "I want you to kill as many settlers as possible." He said.

According to the same information, that is considered of the highest reliability, Arafat instructed Mohammed Dahlan not to dare to detain members of the rejection movements or attackers. Senior security sources report that Dahlan recently asked to detain Abdallah Shami, who is on Israel's wanted list, but his men were caught in a fight with the local population in the area where Shami lives. When Arafat learned of Dahlan's attempt, the chairman rebuked him and instructed him and the others heads of security organizations not to arrest anyone. Arafat said at a meeting he held with the heads of Fatah and members of the security apparatus "do not pay attention to what I say to the media, the television or public appearances. Pay attention only to the written instructions that you receive from me."

ISRAEL: IRAN PLANS BEACHHEAD IN GAZA STRIP

[WORLD TRIBUNE - Wednesday, July 11, 2001]: JERUSALEM - Iran is investing heavily in the war effort against Israel - not only in its base in Lebanon but in a second beachhead in the Gaza Strip.

Foreign Minister Shimon Peres said Iran and the Hizbullah are trying to establish a Shi'ite center both in southern Lebanon and in the Gaza Strip. Peres told parliament on Tuesday that Iran is providing both weapons and funds for this effort, according to Middle East Newline.

"They are investing money, weapons and send orders," Peres said. "Iran is completely destroying Lebanon. The Hizbullah is the operative arm of Iran. It provides it [Hizbullah] with warehouses of missiles. The second place where they want to set up their center is in the Gaza Strip. They want two Shi'ite centers with missiles and murder in their eyes."

Israeli officials said the Islamic regime has increased its support to the Lebanese Hizbullah and Palestinian allies to threaten the Jewish state both from within and along the border areas. They said the Iranian effort includes the provision of advanced sabotage equipment and rockets to Hizbullah and the Palestinian Authority.

Iran has deployed Fajr-5 rockets from Iran, Israeli officials said. The rocket is said to have a range of 70 kilometers and can strike the northern city of Haifa from the Lebanese border.

On Wednesday, a Palestinian was arrested on suspicion of planning a bombing attack in the northern Israeli city of Afula. Police officers overpowered the suspect, described as a suicide bomber from the West Bank city of Jenin, before he could detonate the device, an Israeli spokesman said.

At the same time, authorities said they arrested whom they termed was a terror cell of Israeli Arabs financed by the Hizbullah. The six-member cell was said to have killed two Israelis as part of initiation rights to enter the Hizbullah-sponsored group based in Jordan.

In Gaza, the officials said, the Hizbullah has trained Palestinians to produce and detonate powerful land mines and bombs meant to disable Israeli tanks and armored personnel carriers. Officials said these bombs have already been used in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

On Wednesday, Palestinian gunners fired a mortar toward an Israeli position in the Gaza Strip. Nobody was injured. Later, a Palestinian woman was killed in Israel's Negev desert during a army chase of illegal Palestinian laborers.
