Letter from MER

Yes, we are trying to continue MER.  We know many people, as in the first letter, have only found out about MER in recent years.  But actually MER has been published since 1996 and the weekly TV program was produced from 1994 until last year.

We told you candidly last month that after overcoming so many problems and obstacles in the past, then after successfully reorganizing MER last year, we now had to raise at least $15,000 to be able to continue MER throughout this year. Moreover we want to go ahead with the plans we now have to enable MER to expand in scope and impact.  But we've only raised so far less than half of what we minimally need and unless many more of you financially support MER immediately at this time we will not be able to continue.

We have made contributing to MER easier than ever as well.   You can do so online using Paypal with your credit/debit card or bank account.  Or you can send a check made out to MER  to:

Letters to MER

Dear MER editors,

We  have saved your excellent articles for the past two years, after becoming aware of the site through John Laws radio interview with Mark Bruzonsky in Sydney, 2003.

I fully apppreciate the dedication of those associated with keeping MER alive as a beacon of truth in our corporatised era. I feel exceedingly guilty that I have not yet contributed for several reasons, but I look forward to embracing the opportunity to assist MER in any capacity from August, 2005. (Just completing Master of Internatonal Relations at Macquarie University and have found your articles have equipped me with insights that I could not find from other sources. It would be good if all Political Science/Middle East/International Relations departments are aware of your site. Your artcles would certainly liven up some seminars!)

I am particularly passionate about MIddle East Affairs and believe that MER is assisting many individuals around the world to reinvigorate the quest for justice for he Palestinians, Iraqis and other oppressed peoples, and to formulate strategies for change within a politically, economcally and historically informed context.

There is so much to be done and I thank you for alerting globally conscientious individuals about the intolerable situations articulated in MER.

Warm regards,
Janice Whitworth

Palestinian Statehood Now Showing at MiddleEast.Org
(May 28, 2005)
IN 1992 A GROUP of Jewish professionals organized as The Jewish Committee on the Middle East (JCOME) made a unique half-hour documentary in tribute to the Palestinian people and their 'Intifada' (uprising) to end the brutal Israeli military occupation. This documentary was broadcast nationally on cable throughout the United States by Deep Dish TV, Free Speech TV, and other networks. During the first Intifada JCOME also published numerous full-page magazine ads in The New York Review of Books, The Nation, LAWeekly, The Progressive, and other publications in support of the Palestinian quest for independence. These ads and information about JCOME are now at www.MiddleEast.Org/J. JCOME also published the unique essay by Professor Charles Black, Sterling Professor of Constitutional Law at Yale University, titled "Let Us Rethink Our Special Relationship with Israel" now available at www.MiddleEast.org/black Correction: The Intifada began in 1987, not 1977 as indicated in the roll-in. This documentary and others are available on DVD or VHS - www.MiddleEast.Org/orders.

The very first MERTV Program now showing at MiddleEast.Org
(May 18, 2005)
MERTV Program 1. It was in 1994 that MER Publisher Mark Bruzonsky was interviewed about Middle East history and the Israeli-Arab 'Peace Process' on Chicago Access TV -- and that was the start of MERTV. A few months earlier Bruzonsky has provided the live commentary for Canadian CTV throughout the historic White House signing ceremony with Yasser Arafat, Yitzhak Rabin, and Bill Clinton. Practically alone among the network commentators Bruzonsky explained how and why the agreement being signed with so much fanfare that day was likely to fail. The disasters that have taken place in years since were foreseeable even then and Bruzonsky outlines why right from the start in this first MERTV Program now showing at MiddleEast.Org.
